Amazon Ends FBA Prep & Labelling Services in Canada Starting July 1, 2026
If you’re selling on Amazon Canada using Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), there’s a critical change you need to act on — and the deadline is closer than you think.
Amazon has officially announced that, effective July 1, 2026, it will discontinue FBA Prep Services and FBA Item Labelling Services in Canada. This is an important operational change that could impact your inventory processing, shipment compliance, reimbursements, and Prime readiness.
What’s changing?
Starting July 1, 2026, Amazon Canada will no longer provide FBA Prep Services or FBA Item Labelling Services.
This applies to:
Standard FBA shipments
Amazon SEND inventory
Supply Chain Portal inventory
Any inventory routed through Canadian FBA facilities
The deadline you need to know
✅ Shipments created before July 1, 2026 — Amazon will continue to honour prep and labelling services, even if inventory arrives after that date. You’re covered.
⚠️ Shipments created after July 1, 2026 — All inventory must arrive properly packaged, correctly labelled, and compliant with Amazon’s requirements. Shipments arriving without proper prep may still be processed and shipped, but will not qualify for reimbursement if items become damaged, lost, or untraceable. That’s a real financial risk you don’t want to take.
Why is Amazon making this change?
According to Amazon, the goals are to improve operational efficiency, reduce handling complexity, and deliver faster fulfilment times. They’ve also noted that the overall need for prep services has decreased over time — meaning this shift has been a long time coming.
What should sellers review now?
Don’t wait until June 30th. Here’s where to focus your attention:
📦 Operations — Review your packaging and labelling process and ensure full compliance with Amazon’s shipment requirements.
🚚 Logistics — Secure a prep or warehouse partner if you’re not handling this in-house, and test your shipment compliance before July.
🔖 Packaging — Explore Ships in Product Packaging (SIPP) for eligible products to reduce supply chain costs and unlock FBA discounts.
The risks of not preparing
Sellers who aren’t ready by July 1 could face:
Inventory delays at fulfilment centres
Damaged or untraceable inventory
Loss of reimbursement eligibility
Disruptions to Prime readiness
Next Success Recommendation
